“I tend to be drawn toward challenging the status quo. A career in law has been a natural fit. The genuine camaraderie, and flexibility inherent to our general practice makes for a most gratifying professional experience.”

Why did you pursue a career in law?

“I was naturally very inquisitive and never quite satisfied to accept “that’s just the way it is” as a response.  At an early age it occurred to me that lawyers, at least those I was seeing on TV, were able to routinely express their opinions – and others listened – the to-and-fro of the reasoning offered on either side of the table held a certain appeal for me then – as it does now.”

What do you enjoy most about your day to day here?

“The beauty of a general practice is that it keeps you sharp in a variety of areas -continually expanding one’s knowledge base. My greatest career satisfaction is derived from word-of-mouth referrals. Endorsements from former clients give you a sense that your work is meaningful.”

What made you want to come home after living away?

“Home for me is St. Bride’s, on the scenic Cape Shore.  It is very much a part of the fabric of who I am – an environment wherein authenticity is encouraged, in fact, expected.  I’ve lived in three other major Canadian cities and those experiences have helped to cultivate a broad spectrum of advocacy skills; however, at the end of an academic year of graduate studies at the University of Calgary, when it was time to return to practice, at that age and stage, my roots on the Rock drew me back to the locale that has always had my heart.”

What does “Home For Good” mean to you?

“We’re doing good work, for good people, in a really good place.  I like spending my time exploring the unique needs of our clients and customizing solutions – it’s not lost on me that it’s a privilege to have such a riveting “day job”.

Outside the office:

“I have a passion for political involvement.  I started volunteering for campaigns as a young girl and I have yet to tire of the wonderful world of politics.  In March of 2021, I was elected as National Councillor for Newfoundland and Labrador for the Conservative Party of Canada.  I’m very happy in that liaison role for and on behalf of our CPC Members.”
